Hack of the Day – iPhone Car Crash Detection

Car Crash Detection

Modern iPhones come equipped with advanced safety features, one of which is the ability to detect if you’ve been in a car accident. When a crash is detected, your iPhone will display an alert and sound an alarm. If you do not respond to the alert within a short period of time, your iPhone will automatically call emergency services using an audio message to inform the authorities that you have been in a car accident and share your location with them. This feature is designed to ensure timely assistance when the user is unable to call for help themselves.

Your iPhone and Apple Watch can detect severe car crashes

To turn on this car crash detection feature:
Go to Settings>Emergency SOS then turn on “Call after Severe Crash”.

Emergency Contacts

When you activate the Emergency SOS feature, the iPhone will not only call emergency services but also send a text message to your designated emergency contacts. This message includes your current location and updates them if your location changes. This automated alert system ensures that your loved ones are promptly informed about your situation, allowing them to take appropriate action or provide necessary assistance.

To add emergency contacts:
Go to the Health App and add your Emergency Contacts to your Medical ID.

Who would YOU add?

Interesting question, isn’t it?

This feature may not be available everywhere or detect all care crashes, so call 911 and your emergency contacts whenever you are able to.
